How to plant Alchemilla
— Plant your Alchemilla between spring (ideally after frosts have finished) and autumn; once planted and established, this plant is very hardy.
— Plant in borders or patio containers, in full sun or part shade.
— Set plants 30-45cm / 12-18" apart.
— Water-in after planting and keep hydrated while in growth.
— Cut back the faded flower heads and foliage in August, and the plant will often produce a second flush of flowers.
— Feed plants with a general fertiliser in early spring, followed by a light mulch of rich leaf- mould or well-rotted compost.
— Alchemilla can self-seed freely; if you don’t want this, remove the seedheads once the flowers fade.
