Collection: Ranunculus tubers
Ranunculus tubers produce exquisitely layered flowers, with delicate petals arranged in neat, almost rose-like spirals. Also known as Persian buttercups, ranunculus bring exceptional colour to late-spring and early-summer displays, ranging from white, cream and soft blush to apricot, coral, yellow, orange, pink and deep red. Their beautifully formed blooms are carried on slender yet sturdy stems, creating an abundant display that feels both romantic and refined.
Our ranunculus tubers are ideal for patio containers, sheltered borders and dedicated cutting gardens. Plant them generously for drifts of saturated colour, combine harmonious shades for a softly blended display, or mix contrasting varieties for something more expressive. Ranunculus are particularly valued as cut flowers: their blooms last well in a vase, while the long stems make them easy to arrange. Regular picking also encourages the plants to continue producing flowers.
Although widely known as ranunculus bulbs, they grow from small tubers, sometimes called claws, which spring into growth after planting. Ranunculus appreciate fertile, free-draining soil and a bright, sheltered position. They are not reliably hardy in severe frost, so planting times and winter protection depend on local conditions. In colder areas, plant in spring or start the tubers under cover; autumn planting is best reserved for mild regions or protected growing. Water carefully while growth develops, avoiding waterlogged soil. With a little thoughtful care, ranunculus bulbs reward you with weeks of intricate flowers and some of the finest blooms for cutting.
