Phlox Bare Roots

Generally, all forms...

Generally, all forms of garden Phlox are unfussy. They like full sun to part shade and any non-waterlogged soil should be fine. They flower in profusion, most usually with huge, 12-15cm long flowerheads that last for months and months. The flowers are fragrant and showy, with brilliant colours that do not fade as they age. Phlox are excellent when grown in perennial borders or patio containers, and they are wonderful as cut flowers. The foliage is dense and compact, usually with deep green, lance-shaped leaves with prominent veins. Some forms have purple or reddish-tinted leaves. Phlox gets its name from the Greek for flame, which is why it is often referred to as the flame flower. The Phlox genus, which is in the Jacob’s Ladder family (Polemoniaceae), contains more than 60 species of both perennial and annual plants. In the wild, they are found mostly in North America, in diverse habitats from alpine tundra to prairie and woodland edges.
