The name Spider Lily may sound vaguely scary, but there’s nothing frightening about the beautiful blooms of Lycoris. Also known as the Resurrection Lily, this genus is related to Amaryllis and grows in much the same way. In the Far East, it’s known as the plant the blooms to signal the arrival of autumn which is why some people also call it the Equinox Lily. Whatever name you choose to give it, the blooms of Lycoris will never disappoint. The long stamens that make some people think of spiders look amazing when the flower heads are in full bloom, and the bright colour is a stand-out winner in the autumn flower garden!
