Collection: Sprekelia bulbs (Jacobean lily)
Sprekelia isn't totally predictable. It will sometimes bloom twice (or more) in one year, and possibly won’t bloom at all the next. However, it's worth taking a chance – Sprekelia's extraordinary dark red flowers are stunning, and planting a few will give you a good chance of getting at least some of them in flower every year. Sprekelia, sometimes known as the Aztec, Jacobean, St James' or Mexican fire lily, capture the spirit of those names. Three separate upright petals rise like plumes at the back, while the other three curl together at the base and point downward. Sprekelias are suitable for gardens, containers and as houseplants, these plants are full grown at about 30-45cm.
