Description
You might not be able to hang on to summer forever, but you can certainly let it go out in a blaze of glory, with Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm'! Featuring masses of flowers in dazzling gold, these black-eyed beauties will be the jewel in the crown of your herbaceous borders, from August all the way through to October. With this award-winning luminary lighting up your garden, you’ll be guaranteed an Indian summer, whatever the weather, and planting in drifts will give a truly eye-catching effect!
Flowering profusely so late into the season, Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm' (more commonly known as black-eyed Susan) is precious indeed for pollinators of all types, meaning it’s an essential addition to any wildlife garden worth its salt. At 60cm, this mid-height variety won’t need staking in all but the most exposed of locations, meaning it gives you all the wow factor with very little maintenance required. This robust, clump forming perennial is tolerant of full sun and part shade, and will return year after year – it can be lifted and divided it once fully established.
Black-eyed Susan is incredibly resilient and can grow in any condition. It is known as a pioneer plant — one of the first plants to grow in areas decimated by fire and other natural disasters.

Useful information
-
Soak your Rudbeckia 'Goldsturm' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Black-eyed Susan" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
