Collection: Delphinium bare roots
If you think of tall blue flowers or blue cottage garden spires, chances are you will be thinking about delphiniums. Perennial delphiniums are the archetypal cottage garden plants, and are grown for their rich colours and tall, stately presence in the border. Delphiniums or larkspur flower in early summer, when they can suddenly make the bed or border come alive, and they make a glorious cut flower, too. The flower spikes are packed with either single or double flowers, and they can come in shades of blue, purple, dusky pink, red or cream/white. Flower spikes emerge from clumps of long-stalked, divided green leaves. Rare to find, and developed only in the past few years (in Scotland, actually, so these plants are incredibly hardy), our Highlander™ delphiniums are rather more compact than the old-fashioned perennial delphiniums, but they still produce those wonderful spires of flowers in mid-summer. The flowers are all double, and frilly, and they are excellent for cutting. Being shorter, they are suitable to grow in mixed containers, as well!
