That these exquisite Anemone-Flowering Dahlias are in fact kinsfolk of the old-fashioned dahlia your grandmother used to grow, might come as a surprise. The beautiful and unusual flowers have a couple of layers of flattish petals as a background to a large ball of long florets packed tightly together and pointed straight upwards in the centre. Not the biggest of the dahlia blooms, Anemone-Flowering Dahlia flowers usually measure about 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 inch). Bedding varieties are more compact and only reach about 60 cm or 2 feet tall, but most of these dahlias will grow to around double that height. Be sure to choose big bulbs, and preferably Dutch grown bulbs for the best results.
