That these exquisite anemone-flowering dahlias are in fact kinsfolk of the old-fashioned dahlia your grandmother used to grow, might come as a surprise. The beautiful and unusual flowers have a couple of layers of flattish petals as a background to a large ball of long florets packed tightly together and pointed straight upwards in the centre. Not the biggest of the dahlia blooms, nemone-flowering dahlia flowers usually measure about 10-15cm. Bedding varieties are more compact and only reach about 60cm tall, but most of these dahlias will grow to around double that height. Be sure to choose big bulbs, and preferably Dutch grown bulbs for the best results.
