Hedychium rhizomes
Yes! Tropical plants with exotic foliage and flowers can thrive in the UK. Hedychiums are a case in point. Whether they’re producing foliage, flowers, or new shoots, they do everything at full-tilt and with the maximum of visual drama. Leaves? Hedychium makes them big, handsome and lush. Blooms? This plant produces oodles of them. Scent? It’s absolutely fabulous. You’d be willing to go to a great deal of extra effort to get so much excitement from a special plant species, but Hedychiums are as unfussy as they come. Give it lots of water during summer and a little extra protection during cold winters, and voila!
