Collection: Anemone tubers

Anemones have a way of making a planting scheme feel both colourful and wonderfully relaxed. Their flowers range from the daisy-like blooms of Anemone blanda to the bold, poppy-like cups of Anemone coronaria, with colours spanning blue, violet, pink, red and white. Plant Anemone tubers in groups to let those colours sing, weave them between other spring bulbs or fill a favourite container with flowers to admire up close. Woodland anemones bring delicate beauty beneath deciduous trees, while coronaria varieties offer lovely stems for cutting. From softly spreading carpets to generous bowls of petals, there is an anemone to inspire a different kind of display.

Commonly sold as Anemone bulbs, these plants grow from tubers or rhizomes, depending on the species. Planting times and growing conditions vary, so choose the type that suits your UK garden. Anemone blanda is planted in autumn in well-drained soil, while woodland species such as Anemone nemorosa enjoy humus-rich soil and dappled shade. Anemone coronaria prefers a sunny, sheltered position with excellent drainage; autumn plantings may need frost protection, or you can plant in spring for later flowers. Follow each variety’s growing guide for planting depth and any soaking advice. Explore our Anemones range to discover familiar favourites and distinctive varieties for borders, pots and home-grown bouquets.
