Collection: Astrantia bare roots

Stalwarts of the summer garden, Astrantias give plenty of mid-height structure to any herbaceous border—and are a real staple for shaded sites. Grown in moist, humus-rich soil, these robust plants will produce lush mounds of palmate leaves to fill any tricky gap, such as those areas under trees that get the lowest light—but they’re equally happy in dappled sunshine too, making them a great all-rounder! In midsummer, Astrantia plants take on a starring role in the garden, bearing a profusion of eye catching blooms—with star shaped bracts framing neat little pincushions in a range of shades, these flowers are popular with florists, meaning they'll be worthy of a place in any cutting garden, too!
