If you have an area of poor, dry soil in a sun-baked spot, chances are that Potentilla will settle in nicely and thrive there. These extremely hardy and resilient perennials are well adapted to dry conditions and free-draining soil. Once established, Potentilla (commonly known as cinquefoil) are fairly drought tolerant and cope well with very little moisture. Dainty flowers are produced throughout most of the summer, bringing a cheery peppering of colour to the space. Each year, potentillas grow back and do it all over again.
