Collection: Narcissus & daffodil bulbs

Few spring sights lift the spirits quite like a blooming Narcissus. From neat and tidy miniatures to exuberant doubles, narcissus bulbs offer a wealth of options for every kind of garden. Often referred to simply as daffodils, they range far beyond the classic yellow trumpets. You’ll find fragrant jonquils, delicate poeticus types, and early-flowering paperwhites all under the same sunny umbrella. Planted in autumn, daffodil bulbs quietly prepare for their big moment — and when they do appear, it's like a fanfare of trumpets declaring spring’s arrival.

In the UK, narcissus bulbs are an absolute staple. They’re wonderfully reliable, deer- and rabbit-resistant, and happy in most garden soils. For best results, plant your daffodil bulbs at a depth roughly three times the height of the bulb, ideally in a sunny or lightly shaded position. Most varieties naturalise beautifully, returning year after year with very little interference. Whether you’re filling borders, underplanting trees, lining paths, or dotting them through a lawn, daffodil bulbs are as versatile as they are cheerful.

What makes daffodils particularly rewarding is their sheer diversity. Sweetly scented jonquils are brilliant in pots and borders alike. Paperwhites, though often associated with indoor displays, can be grown in milder UK gardens with a bit of protection. And the ethereal beauty of poeticus Narcissus is hard to beat in a wilder setting or naturalistic scheme. With so many characterful cultivars available, choosing your favourites among the many narcissus bulbs and daffodil bulbs might just be the most difficult part. But wherever you plant them, daffodils have a charming habit of making even the greyest spring day feel a little bit sunnier.
