Plant daffodil bulbs from September to November. If needed, store them somewhere cool and dry, away from mice, but plant before they begin to deteriorate.
'Pacific Rim'
daffodil
Narcissus 'Pacific Rim' is a thoroughly eye-catching daffodil, and one with a slightly more tailored look than the usual sunny spring fare. This award-winning large-cupped daffodil variety produces beautifully proportioned flowers, with rich yellow petals arranged around a shallow cup neatly edged in orange-red. The contrast is crisp, cheerful and just a touch dramatic, giving Narcissus 'Pacific Rim' a particularly polished presence in the garden. Flowering in mid spring, Narcissus 'Pacific Rim' brings brightness and definition to borders, pots and naturalistic plantings alike, standing out clearly without ever looking brash. It is the sort of daffodil that catches the eye from a distance, then rewards a closer look with its refined colouring and balanced form.
Because the cup is relatively shallow, the bold rim feels especially pronounced, almost as though each bloom has been carefully outlined by hand. That distinctive finish makes Narcissus 'Pacific Rim' wonderfully versatile in combinations, pairing easily with blue muscari, white tulips or softer yellow narcissi for a layered spring display. Like many good daffodils, it is easy to grow and dependable, returning each year with increasing confidence when planted in well-drained soil and sunshine or light shade. Narcissus 'Pacific Rim' also makes an excellent cut flower, bringing its lively colour contrast indoors. For gardeners who like their spring bulbs with a little extra character, Narcissus 'Pacific Rim' is a splendid choice.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, two to three times their own height deep and around 10cm apart. Smaller bulbs can be planted slightly closer together.
Water after planting if the soil is dry. Established bulbs in borders rarely need more, but water during dry spring weather and keep containers lightly moist.
Remove faded flowers, but leave the stems and foliage until they turn yellow and die back naturally. The bulbs can remain planted throughout the year.
