Plant daffodil bulbs from September to November. If needed, store them somewhere cool and dry, away from mice, but plant before they begin to deteriorate.

Narcissus
'Drama Queen'
daffodil
Narcissus 'Drama Queen' more than lives up to its name, delivering a performance that is both bold and irresistibly elegant. The crisp white perianth forms a softly ruffled stage, each segment gently reflexed to frame the elaborate split corona at its centre. Here, shades of fruity yellow melt seamlessly into warm peach, the richly textured segments folding and curling with theatrical flair. There is a sense of movement within every bloom, as though Narcissus 'Drama Queen' is caught mid-performance, its colours shifting subtly with the light. Distinctive yet refined, Narcissus 'Drama Queen' captures attention without ever feeling overstated, offering a composition that is as intricate as it is luminous.
Flowering in mid to late spring, Narcissus 'Drama Queen' brings a touch of artistry to borders and containers alike. Its unusual colouring pairs beautifully with soft whites, apricots and fresh greens, while the sculptural form adds depth among more traditional spring shapes. Narcissus 'Drama Queen' is particularly effective when planted in small drifts, where its expressive blooms can be appreciated up close. Reliable and quietly commanding, Narcissus 'Drama Queen' lends the garden a sense of curated elegance—proof that a little drama, when done well, is always a pleasure.

Plant profile
Plant calendar
Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, two to three times their own height deep and around 10cm apart. Smaller bulbs can be planted slightly closer together.
Water after planting if the soil is dry. Established bulbs in borders rarely need more, but water during dry spring weather and keep containers lightly moist.
Remove faded flowers, but leave the stems and foliage until they turn yellow and die back naturally. The bulbs can remain planted throughout the year.
