Plant daffodil bulbs from September to November. If needed, store them somewhere cool and dry, away from mice, but plant before they begin to deteriorate.

Narcissus
'Sweet Desire'
daffodil
There is a gentle romance to Narcissus 'Sweet Desire', a variety that feels both refined and quietly indulgent. Rising to around 35cm, Narcissus 'Sweet Desire' produces fully double blooms in mid-spring, each one composed with remarkable intricacy. Broad, creamy outer petals form a soft, luminous backdrop, while the centre gathers into a sumptuous cluster of narrower segments interspersed with rich orangey-yellow cup pieces. The effect is layered yet harmonious, as though each bloom has been carefully arranged by hand. Planted in generous drifts or nestled among other spring favourites, Narcissus 'Sweet Desire' lends a sense of depth and texture that draws the eye in for a closer look.
As the flowers mature, Narcissus 'Sweet Desire' reveals an ever more intricate play of form, the inner petals gently curling and folding towards the centre, where the softly frilled cup segments add warmth and contrast. There is a pleasing substance to the blooms, allowing Narcissus 'Sweet Desire' to hold its elegant shape well in the garden and in a vase. Its creamy tones blend effortlessly with pastels, while the touches of orange-yellow bring a subtle lift to planting schemes. For those who appreciate detail and quiet sophistication, Narcissus 'Sweet Desire' offers a beautifully composed moment in the spring garden.

Plant profile
Plant calendar
Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, two to three times their own height deep and around 10cm apart. Smaller bulbs can be planted slightly closer together.
Water after planting if the soil is dry. Established bulbs in borders rarely need more, but water during dry spring weather and keep containers lightly moist.
Remove faded flowers, but leave the stems and foliage until they turn yellow and die back naturally. The bulbs can remain planted throughout the year.
