Technically speaking, it’s the length of the “trumpet” that counts in deciding whether a daffodil is a Trumpet Daffodil. To make the grade, it must be as long, or longer than the petals. The more proudly they blow their own trumpets, the more we love them, and this group of Daffodils includes some very worthy cultivars including the classic “Dutch Master”. Admittedly, it’s not a huge group when compared to the Large Cupped Daffodils, but don’t miss it when browsing for your spring flowering bulbs. We’re sure you’ll agree that the Trumpet Narcissi really do deserve an orchestra section (or a piece of your garden) to themselves.
