Description
Perennial salvias, or forms of flowering sage, have never been more popular, and we think you are going to adore Salvia 'Eveline'. She is particularly free-flowering, carrying unusual two-tone, soft lavender and pink flowers, which are in direct contrast to her fragrant, mid-green, lance-shaped leaves. In fact, she was selected by renowned Dutch plantsman Piet Oudolf, for her superior flowers and upright, bushy habit. Stems of Salvia 'Eveline' may be cut, to add texture and fragrance to both fresh and dried arrangements. And, as if this was not enough, the blooms are loved by bees and butterflies.
Whether pretty pastels, cottage charm or a perfect prairie is part of your planting plan this year, Salvia 'Eveline' will fit in well. The upright stems of this beautiful sage are smattered with soft pink blooms, and the loose arrangement of its habit gives it a gorgeous airy quality which looks wispy and wonderful in any setting. Combine it with delicate grasses like Pennisetum for a hazy display which sways in the breeze, or use it to add a contrasting shape and texture among herbaceous borders with a its graceful upright spires.
Expect the unusual colour of Salvia 'Eveline' to attract a bit of attention. Not only is the colour completely loveable, but the shape and structure of this plant is too. Whilst this perennial has a delicate appearance, it maintains all the characteristic qualities that make salvias such easy and low maintenance plants which. Tough and resilient, tolerant to heat, drought and freezing winter weather—you won’t have to worry about Salvia 'Eveline' through the year, and you can look forward to seeing it return every summer for years.
Flowers keep coming, from early summer right through to the end of autumn. For best results, grow Salvia pratensis 'Eveline' in a sunny, sheltered spot in well-drained soil. It is also a good idea to deadhead spent blooms, in order to encourage repeat flowering. Perennial salvias are, of course, invaluable in beds and borders for their display of spiky flowers. And remember, this is a winter-hardy perennial, so it will die back underground in the autumn, only to burst into life again each spring.

Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
