Description
Enjoy a summer flurry of frosty-white Nepeta 'Snowflake' flowers. With its plentiful spires of tubular flowers and neatly-arranged, aromatic, grey-green foliage, this white catmint is surely the top of any list for creating a tasteful and calming planting scheme. Those tightly-packed panicles of blooms are a delight for the eye, creating a striking cloud of silvery white when planted en-masse.
Quite unusually for catmint, Nepeta 'Snowflake' will grow very happily in semi shade, as well as full sun—meaning the scope for planting combinations is almost endless. In a partially shaded nook it would partner perfectly with Astrantia 'Roma'. Or, if positioning in a sunny site, it would set off the gentle lavender tones of Perovskia 'Blue Spire' just beautifully. Either way, be sure to trim back the flower spikes of Nepeta racemosa 'Snowflake' in midsummer—to make way for a second flush later on!

Useful information
-
Soak the Nepeta 'Snowflake' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "White catmint" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
