Description
Bring a tricky shaded spot to life with this tough and resilient evergreen perennial, Liriope 'Moneymaker'. Not only will it fill the space with greenery throughout the year, which is far better to look at that bare soil, but in autumn it really comes up with the goods when it conjures up wonderful wands of purple bobbly flowers! This free-flowering woodland beauty prefers a shady location and has been praised for even thriving in the trickiest of growing conditions – dry shade. In a free-draining soil, Liriope 'Moneymaker' produces a multitude of royal-purple flower spikes, dotted with clusters of tiny, grape hyacinth-like flowers from August to November. And it won’t just be you who’s glad to grow this shady specimen, it’s beloved by pollinators too.
Liriope muscari 'Moneymaker', also known as lilyturf, is a hardy, evergreen perennial growing to approximately 45cm when mature. It’ll spread out over time to fill the space, each year growing from a slightly larger clump. Either use it to add interest to a space where most other plants won’t grow, or give let it live the high-life in a shaded or woodland border among hostas and ferns. And once the perfectly purple flowers have faded, its dark-green evergreen foliage will provide greenery to your garden all year. If Liriope 'Moneymaker' doesn’t make you money, we’re sure this great-value, long-living plant will save you some in the long run!
Liriope is named after Narcissus' mother and takes its name from the Greek words leirion and ops, which together translate as face of the narcissus.

Soak your Liriope 'Moneymaker' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Lilyturf" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
