Description
Combining simplicity with sumptuousness, Gladiolus 'Tarantella' produces spikes of lush, pure white flowers with lightly frilled edges. Like all gladiolus, a drift of these woven through a brimming bed or border can really lift it, the bold, upward ‘swords’ adding height, vertical structure and punctuation you perhaps might not have known was needed. Being clear white, it can lighten a richly coloured planting scheme, or be used as part of a minimalist, all-white display. For the latter, try pairing Gladiolus 'Tarantella' with the fluffy white flowerheads of Pennisetum 'Hameln', the soft white blooms of Phlox 'Sweet Summer Snow', clouds of Gypsophila 'Bristol Fairy' or steely spines of Eryngium 'Magical Silver'. Effortless chic!
Allowing Gladiolus 'Tarantella' to be a glistening spotlight in your borders is always a good idea. But, of course, you may wish to grow your gladiolus in a container which also works well. Choose a large pot and underplant with something like hardy geraniums or astrantias for lower-level interest so your container display is gorgeous from top to bottom! Gladiolus 'Tarantella' is a lovely variety to choose for use as cut flowers—a few of these tall, impressive stems are real corkers in summer wedding bouquets too.
