Just when you think the allium season should be drawing to a close, along comes Allium 'Millenium' to extend the show seamlessly into midsummer with a defiant fresh burst of pink pompon flowers. Not only is this one later flowering that other alliums, but it’s a clump-forming perennial so it’s super strong and forms an impressive group of stems over the years. And if that wasn’t reason enough to be persuaded, it’s a bee and butterfly magnet too. With so many great features, it’s hard to say no to Allium 'Millenium'!
Choose a space for this resilient, hardy and low maintenance perennial allium in a sunny border or large patio container and it will quietly get on with it, requiring very little fuss at all. In garden terms, this is a good doer – a pretty plant with a great personality and an all-round crowd pleaser.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, two to three times their own height deep. A slightly flattened side is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.
Space small bulbs around 5cm apart. Larger bulbs need more room, generally around twice their own width apart, so their foliage and flowers can develop freely.
Water after planting if the soil is dry, then only when needed. After flowering, allow the foliage to die back naturally. Decorative seedheads can remain in place.
