Description
Beautify your borders with the soft blooms of Scabiosa 'Kudo Blue'. Part of the much talked-about Kudo scabious series bred in Japan, this scabious is a huge hit with both gardeners and garden wildlife! Pollinators like bees and butterflies are drawn to these mauve-blue blooms and they’re not disappointed by its offerings – a cushion of soft petals, laced with tiny white anthers and deep pockets of nectar. Its larger-than-average pincushion flowers bring bags of charm to the garden. Scabiosa 'Kudo Blue' also boasts an intensely long flowering period too, and with regular deadheading you can expect this breezy beauty to bring you bloom after bloom all the way through from late spring to early autumn.
In a sunny spot in the garden, Scabiosa 'Kudo Blue' will weave its way through other plants, dancing lightly on the breeze and wafting its pretty flowers around. Give it the limelight at the front of your borders, for this is a plant you’ll enjoy for most of the growing season. Shorter than most scabious, 'Kudo Blue' also perfect for pots, so if you’re wondering what to plant on a balcony, terrace or patio that will keep looking good for months, this one is a great choice.

Useful information
-
Soak your Scabiosa 'Kudo Blue' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Pincushion flower" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
