Description
Relax on hazy summer days surrounded by the gently swaying stems and floating cloud-like blooms of Scabiosa 'Kudo White'. Flowering on and on from late spring, summer and into autumn, Scabiosa 'Kudo White' is an elegant new Japanese introduction that is already becoming very popular. Its chic ivory-white blooms are touched with tiny details, including minute purple anthers which give them their subtle lilac aura. Flat, rounded petals which encircle the pincushion centre span wider than most Scabious, their larger size makes them more of a prominent feature in a planting scheme. This hardy perennial is easy to care for and also a real pollinator-magnet, bringing in the bees and butterflies which adds life and movement to the garden.
Scabiosa 'Kudo White' is a resilient plant which grows well in most sunny locations, growing back each year with more stems and flowers as it establishes over time. Start bare roots like this in temporary pots to give them an easy start before transferring into borders once they’ve formed a strong root system, it’s a little extra step but the rewards seem endless. It’s a great choice for wildlife gardens, cottage schemes or pastel themes. Not only is Scabiosa 'Kudo White' a great garden performer, but it makes a beautiful cut flower too. Regular cutting or deadheading will ensure a steady flow of flowers through the season.

Useful information
-
Soak your Scabiosa 'Kudo White' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Pincushion flower" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
