Description
Lagerstroemia 'Eternal' is a wonderfully neat crape myrtle for smaller gardens, patios and sunny borders, bringing all the romance of summer colour without demanding half the garden in return. This compact, bushy deciduous shrub emerges with fresh green foliage in spring, then settles into a handsome, leafy mound before the flowers arrive. From summer onwards, Lagerstroemia indica 'With Love Eternal' produces generous terminal clusters of lilac-purple to rich purple blooms, each petal delicately crinkled as though pressed from silk. The effect is light, airy and surprisingly lavish for such a tidy plant, giving Lagerstroemia 'Eternal' a long season of interest and a distinctly polished look.
As the year moves on, Lagerstroemia 'Eternal' has one more flourish to offer, with autumn foliage glowing through warm yellow, orange and red tones before leaf fall. Soak the Lagerstroemia 'Eternal' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Crape myrtle" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost within a week of delivery and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
