Description
Bringing a dash of late-summer drama, Hibiscus 'Ruby Chiffon' is a showstopper in full bloom. This exquisite tree hollyhock produces a cascade of ruby red flowers, each one packed with layers of gently ruffled petals that create a soft, frilly effect. Appearing later in the season, the blooms add a welcome burst of colour just as many other plants begin to wane. Their rich, jewel-like tones glow beautifully in the low autumn light, making Hibiscus 'Ruby Chiffon' a star performer for extending the season’s splendour.
Growing into a well-shaped deciduous shrub, Hibiscus 'Ruby Chiffon' reaches around 2–2.5 metres tall, offering both structure and elegance to mixed borders. Its resilience and easy-going nature make it a joy to grow—happy in a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained soil, and requiring little more than an annual tidy-up to stay in form. Perfect for gardeners who appreciate long-lasting colour and a touch of romance, Hibiscus 'Ruby Chiffon' brings warmth and vitality to the garden when it’s most needed, keeping the border alive with beauty well into autumn.

Useful information
-
Soak your Hibiscus 'Ruby Chiffon' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Tree hollyhock" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
