Description

Compact, upright and cheerfully refined, Digitalis 'Berry Canary' is a foxglove made for gardeners who like their summer colour with a little polish. From a basal cluster of dark, virtually evergreen leaves, Digitalis 'Berry Canary' sends up branched flower spikes that keep the display moving for weeks on end. The outward-facing, bell-shaped flowers are pink on the outside, then open to reveal creamy interiors speckled with pink, a charming bit of decoration that looks far more painstaking than it is. Neat enough for containers yet expressive in the border, Digitalis × valinii 'Berry Canary' brings vertical rhythm without overwhelming its neighbours, which is always good manners in a mixed planting.

Use Digitalis 'Berry Canary' to weave soft height through sunny or lightly shaded borders, where its dark foliage makes an elegant foil for pastel perennials, silver leaves and airy grasses. Its long summer flowering season gives pollinators plenty to enjoy, while the compact habit makes it especially useful near paths, patios and smaller garden spaces. Plant Digitalis 'Berry Canary' in fertile, well-drained soil and keep it watered during dry spells to encourage continuous performance. Graceful, colourful and quietly industrious, Digitalis × valinii 'Berry Canary' has the classic foxglove silhouette with a fresh, fruit-and-cream finish, looking as lovely in a cottage garden as it does in a contemporary perennial scheme.
