Can be grown as a houseplant

Heart-shaped, cherry pink leaves, each edged with a ribbon of emerald green, is what makes Caladium 'Florida Sweetheart' such a particularly admirable plant. The colour contrast is just lovely, the fact that the leaves are semi-translucent is fascinating, and the overall look of the plant when it’s in full leaf is truly something to adore. Grow Caladium 'Florida Sweetheart' as houseplants or start them off indoors and then move them into the garden for summer—either way, this sweet-pink delight will make its space a whole lot more cheery and colourful.

You may cause a little house-plant envy among friends with a show-off selection of Caladiums. But by far, the best and most rewarding bit is watching these amazing leaves unfurl from a bulb you have planted yourself. Like all Caladiums, 'Florida Sweetheart' is happy as a houseplant, but it can also go outside for summer to brighten up a shady part of the garden, once the weather is warm. Caladiums are tropical bulbs and need consistent warmth to bring them out of dormancy. If you do plan to plant them outside, make sure to give them a cosy start indoors first of all.
