Accenting that sunset colourway is a speckled pattern of silhouette-like dashes which bring on the splashy, tropical charm! Typical of most Peruvian lilies, this lasting beauty begins the season with a first flurry of flowers in June and then keeps on going until autumn. Tall stems act as a pedestal for these incredible blooms, plant a group of Alstroemeria 'Tiercé' in the middle of a border and they’ll be the life and soul of the plant party.
Alstroemeria 'Tiercé' comes from the Garden Series, bred for sturdy stems, hardiness to -10C and good all-round reliability. Like all lilies of the Incas, it makes an exceptional cut-flower with an impressive vase life of up to 14 days. Alstroemerias are clump-forming perennials and establish over time, growing a slightly larger clump each year which will produce more flower stems. Soak your Alstroemeria 'Tiercé' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Peruvian lily" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
