If you’re looking for a real head turner of a plant to add colour, height and structure to the garden, this unique gem of an allium, Allium nigrum 'Pink Jewel' is bound to do the trick! Forming impressive globes of rose-pink blooms on tall sturdy stems, it’s one of the only true-pink varieties around. When in full bloom, each globe is formed of masses of dainty jewel-like flowers, each pinpointed with a contrasting pale green centre. Alliums are really versatile – whatever your planting style, whether it’s floral cottage garden or trendy and contemporary, this pretty variety will fit in perfectly.
Allium nigrum 'Pink Jewel' variety looks great in beds and borders as well as containers. Growing to a height of around 75cm, they’re really quite statuesque and bold, which makes them ideal for adding height to planting schemes. When planted among lower-growing flowers, they bob gracefully above which adds another layer of colour and really maximises your early-summer display.
Alliums are very easy to look after – the strong stems support the weight of the flowers, so once they’re planted, all that’s really left to do is wait to enjoy the show!
