Description

Let Allium 'Art' demonstrate pure creative genius in the gorgeous gallery of your early summer flower beds! Certainly a one-off, and a little bit of a show-off too, each quirky bloom features a puff of tiny purple umbels atop wiry, wayward stems. Like many great works of art, it breaks the rules, yet is beautiful in its own right. Sharing its charmingly haphazard appearance with its eccentric, all-green cousin Allium 'Hair' the addition of rich purple blooms from Allium 'Art' injects a splash of extra colour and detail.

Allium 'Art' is a real character and certainly makes for a unique piece. We recommend planting this with globe alliums for contrast or similarly arty alliums like Allium 'Catweazle' or 'Hair'. When choosing a spot for your Alliums, bear in mind that a sunnier position will be best for longer stems and showier blooms, which is ideal if you are growing them as cut flowers. Surprisingly robust, Allium scorodoprasum 'Art' (or sand leek) will withstand winter cold and summer heat, they just need a free- draining soil to set down their roots into.
