Description
If natural and breezy planting schemes are your jam, include Sanguisorba 'Jam Session' and enjoy as it busts out a fantastic froth of blooms every summer. This new variety is particularly notable for two reasons—firstly it has white flowers rather than the usual burgundy you get from burnet. Secondly, Sanguisorba 'Jam Session' has a particularly compact and dense habit, making it better for close to the front of a border. If you’re putting together a prairie garden, this white Sanguisorba will settle into it well, thriving among other sun-loving summer perennials like Echinacea and Rudbeckia, as well as gorgeously carefree, hazy ornamental grasses.
Sanguisorba officinalis 'Jam Session' is fairly drought tolerant once it’s settled in and it’s also fully winter hardy. The shorter stems mean this more compact plant is strong and self supporting. All these factors considered, Sanguisorba 'Jam Session' is an easy-going, low-maintenance perennial which will thrive for years when it’s happy in its spot. Sanguisorba enjoys a sunny position in a border or gravel garden where it has room to spread out and put on the show it was destined for!

Useful information
-
Soak your Sanguisorba 'Jam Session' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Burnet" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
