Description
What can we say about Hosta 'Lipstick Blonde', other than it is one of the most eye-catching and stunning of hostas! It forms a sturdy, medium-sized mound of yellow foliage, around 30-40cm high. And it’s this foliage that gives all the drama. The leaves are pointed, slightly crumpled, and are some of the brightest and most vibrant yellows you will ever see in plant foliage. These leaves are held on beautiful red stems. In early and mid-summer, the foliage is topped with lavender, lily-shaped flowers on arching stems.
Most hostas enjoy growing in partial shade, and here, yellow plantain lily 'Lipstick Blonde' will give your darkest corners of the garden a vivid pop of colour. However, unlike most hostas, if you plant this one in a place that receives around six hours of sunlight a day, you will bring out the very best of the vivid yellow leaf colouring. Because of its shape and size, the best effect is created if you plant three, five, or more plants together. Hosta 'Lipstick Blonde' is great for planting in mixed patio containers, too.

Soak the Hosta 'Lipstick Blonde' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Plantain lily" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
