Hedychium aurantiacum
orange ginger lily
Turn up the tropical charm in your garden with this balmy beauty of a plant, Hedychium aurantiacum, also known as the orange Ginger Lily. Whether your borders are full of exotic varieties like these or you want to spice-up your mixed borders, this versatile plant flaunts impressive looks and stately upright structure that will sit well with anything. During the summer months, strong, tall flower spikes show off alluring and lustrous apricot-toned blooms with a glitzy golden hue. It’s hard not to fall head over heels in love with it!
This wonderful perennial can last for years in the garden. It’s pretty hardy and usually very happy in a sheltered, partially shady spot in the garden. It’ll survive a typical UK winter in milder areas without any trouble, but even if you live in a very cold area you’ll find it’ll be snug enough through the colder months with a little blanket of dry mulch. Give Hedychium aurantiacum a try and discover how easy and rewarding this garden gem is!
