Description
Let Echinacea 'Parrot' dazzle in summer garden with its magnificent plumage of fiery yellow and red blooms! This exotic-looking coneflower shines like a beacon in a border from mid to late summer, and stands out for its notable bicolour petals which radiate from a prominent central dome. Ember shades of burnt orange turn to gold at the outer edges of each flower, forming two rings of colour which creates a contrast with itself as well as neighbouring plants. Echinacea 'Parrot' is perfectly evolved for pollination, with petals which curve gently backwards to make the perfect landing pad for bees and butterflies who find these flowers irresistible!
Coneflowers like Echinacea 'Parrot' are staples of the cottage garden border, but the exotic colour of this variety makes it equally suited to hot, tropical planting schemes and eye-catching patio pots. With a bushy, upright habit of around 50cm tall, it’s a useful plant for the front of borders, forming a neat clump of sturdy stems. Plant these hardy perennials in well drained borders where their daisy-shaped blooms can bask in the sun. Coneflowers don’t enjoy wet feet so on heavier soils it’s well worth digging in plenty of well-rotted compost to improve the soil before planting. Once established, they will return year after year, mingling cheerfully with other perennials and providing plenty of blooms for cutting or drying for everlasting displays.
Echinacea 'Parrot' is a beautiful bicolor coneflower, featuring blooms that blend from a bold red-orange to a deep yellow. All around, the reflexed petals of Echinacea 'Parrot' create an eye-catching contrast with the dark central cone, irresistible to pollinators. And the best part? You can enjoy its vibrant presence from June to September!
Plant Echinacea 'Parrot' in a spot in sun where it can easily be seen. Note that it is around 50cm tall and will bush out as it gradually forms a wider clump over the years. It’s a gem in a mixed border with other summer flowering perennials and easily combines with most colours. You can create a really bright display, or go for a more muted, hazy look by planting these coneflowers with ornamental grasses.

Useful information
-
Soak your Echinacea 'Parrot' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Coneflower" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
