Description

Introduce some sunny yellow to your summer schemes with this cheery Echinacea 'Golden Skipper'. This wonderfully vibrant yellow coneflower is a super attractive plant for pollinators, with its open blooms and eye-catching colour. At the centre of the flower sits a yellowish-green cone which makes for a citrusy lemon and lime contrast. Compact in height, this strong and stocky Echinacea establishes into attractive clumps which are just right for the front to middle of the border.

Echinacea 'Golden Skipper' works well with ornamental grasses and perennials with contrasting flower colours like purple Salvia, red Helenium or Verbena, all of which light up the garden from mid to late summer. Perfectly fitting for a prairie style border, this variety aptly gets its name from the Golden Skipper butterfly which is native to America. This sturdy little variety is also useful for patio containers as it is slightly smaller than other Echinacea varieties. It grows well in most well drained soils, this bundle of joy is best placed in full sun.

With its bright, lemon-yellow blooms, orange cone and toothed petals, it's sure to be the highlight of any garden. Whether it's planted en masse at the front of a border, or in a container, it's guaranteed to brighten up its surroundings. And the best part? Not only does it look great, but Echinacea 'Golden Skipper' is also a must-have for pollinators!

Plant Echinacea 'Golden Skipper' in a spot in sun where it can easily be seen. Note that it is around 50cm tall and will bush out as it gradually forms a wider clump over the years. It’s a gem in a mixed border with other summer flowering perennials and easily combines with most colours. You can create a really bright display, or go for a more muted, hazy look by planting these coneflowers with ornamental grasses.
