Description
Dutch-raised Dahlia 'Red Fubuki' has been around for almost 30 years – and the fact that it is still a great seller means that it is a really great plant! A stunning red dahlia, 'Red Fubuki' is known as a fimbriata variety, as its many petals have a fringed look where the tips are evenly split or notched into two or more divisions. Add to this, the petals get larger the further they radiate from the centre. Plus, the tips turn from a bright red to a gorgeous frosted pink—adding to the attraction. As a bonus, the flower heads are double, with the petals in packed layers. As with all dahlias, 'Red Fubuki' first produces a clump of bright green, fleshy leaves—and it is from these clumps that the dramatic flowers stems will appear.
Great for beds, borders or large patio containers, Dahlia 'Red Fubuki' is easy-to-grow: just give it well-drained soil, ideally with some manure or compost for its roots to get into, and a sunny position. It will make a fabulous cut flower, too! This is one of the most impressive plants you can grow in your garden—a true statement of colour and texture.

Dahlia 'Red Fubuki' is half hardy, which means that it should be kept frost free over winter and during spring.
For best results, start your dahlia tubers in temporary pots in a
greenhouse in March or April to grow on to transplant outside later in the season—this will give them a head start.Alternatively, you can plant the Dahlia 'Red Fubuki' tubers directly outside in May.
Plant with the stump of last year's stem facing upwards. The tuber should be fully submerged but with the stump just below the soil surface.
Plant one tuber per 8-10" pot if growing on during spring. When
planting outside, space the tubers around 30-50cm apart from each other. Compact varieties don’t need so much space.Water-in thoroughly after planting and continue to water regularly once in full growth, but only when the soil appears to be nearly dry.
