Description
Glitter your garden with the frosted flowers of Aruncus 'Sparkles'! Plant this hardy perennial in areas with damp soil and look forward to the blooms which develop in a crystalline fashion above serrated, textured foliage every year in early to mid summer. These jagged white blooms provide an interesting texture in contrast to other garden plants, and catch the light in the flicker of dappled shade to make quite a startling impact. But there’s more to come after flowering… the foliage of Aruncus 'Sparkles' steps in with a complete colour change from green to warm amber for autumn. Bees and other pollinators like to lose themselves among Aruncus, also known as goat’s beard, because the generous mass of tiny blooms which form each flowerhead are a nectar buffet!
Aruncus 'Sparkles' is a long-lasting plant which you can enjoy for years in the garden. This clump-forming perennial not only returns every year, but gets better each time. As the root system grows, it produces more stems and therefore a greater number of blooms to add a sparkling highlights to any area with damp or reliably moist soil – Aruncus 'Sparkles' looks particularly at home close to water but also works brilliantly in a partially shaded border. Once established, this plant reaches a height and spread of up to 50cm, it’s manageable and easy to grow, with a neat and bushy habit which comes naturally. Try combining Aruncus 'Sparkles' with others which enjoy similar conditions, such as Thalictrum and Astilbe.

Useful information
-
Soak the Aruncus 'Sparkles' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Goat's beard" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
