Description

Verbascum 'Caribbean Crush' brings a warm, sun-drenched palette to summer planting, with tall, upright spikes packed in saucer-shaped flowers that shift beautifully as they open. Apricot, buttery yellow, soft pink and bronzy orange-copper tones can all appear on one plant, giving this mullein a painterly, almost tropical glow. Verbascum 'Caribbean Crush' forms a handsome basal rosette of large, woolly, grey-green leaves, with each textured leaf reaching up to around 25cm long. From this soft, architectural base, the flower stems rise with pleasing confidence, adding height and rhythm to borders without becoming too bulky.

Typically reaching 90cm to 1.2m high with a spread of around 45 to 60cm, Verbascum 'Caribbean Crush' is ideal for sunny perennial borders, gravel gardens and relaxed cottage-style schemes. Its blooms begin in late spring, often from May or June, and can continue into midsummer, sometimes longer when content. Plant Verbascum 'Caribbean Crush' in well-drained soil and full sun, where its vertical form and mellow colouring will work beautifully with salvias, grasses, achilleas and hardy geraniums. Elegant yet spirited, Verbascum 'Caribbean Crush' offers a long-lasting display with just enough flair to make quieter neighbours look thoughtfully understated.
