Tulip 'Tinka' is a delightful little treasure among species tulips, bringing a refined charm that feels both natural and quietly sophisticated. This hybrid clusiana Tulip forms slender, upright plants, each reaching a modest 20–25cm, yet never lacking in presence. The pointed flowers of Tulip clusiana 'Tinka' are particularly captivating, with outer tepals marked by a bold, flame-like red triangle that dominates the petal, neatly edged with the narrowest ribbon of yellow. It is a striking contrast, and one that gives Tulip 'Tinka' its unmistakable character, especially when the blooms are still partially closed in the cooler hours of the day.
As the sun coaxes them open, Tulip 'Tinka' reveals a glowing yellow interior, offset beautifully by dark purple stamens that add an unexpected depth. Flowering in mid to late spring, Tulip cl 'Tinka' slips effortlessly into rockeries, containers, or the front of a border, where its fine stems and elegant form can be fully appreciated. There is a certain lightness to its presence, never overwhelming, always enhancing. Planted in gentle drifts, Tulip 'Tinka' creates a lively, flickering effect, as though each bloom is catching and reflecting the spring light in its own quiet way.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
