Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.
'Tasmania'
If you want to inject some energy into your spring planting, Tulip 'Tasmania' might be just the vibrant hit of colour you need! This stunning new tulip really pops in a border or in containers, with petals in a peachy shade of orange that look as if their edges have been burnished with a golden coppery varnish. Tulip 'Tasmania' will shine on even the dullest of days, with its look at me attitude and its bowl-shaped blooms standing proud above lush fresh green foliage.
Tulip 'Tasmania' is an excellent contender for a vibrant colour scheme. It will blend beautifully with other bold colours, for a zingy, energetic display with red, orange, deep pinks and coppery-shaded tulips. Tulip 'Tasmania' could also be paired with dark, almost black colours to make it pop even more, if that were even possible! Such thrilling combinations are also possible in a vase, where these pleasingly rounded blooms on good strong stems are bound to steal the show.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
