Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.

Tulip
'Summer Sun'
Tulip 'Summer Sun' glows with a richly blended palette of orange, pink, salmon and coral, each petal suffused with warmth as though brushed by late afternoon light. The colours of Tulip 'Summer Sun' shift gently as the bloom matures, opening from a softly cupped form into a more generous, layered flower with delicately ruffled edges. There’s a painterly quality to Tulip 'Summer Sun', where tones merge rather than contrast, giving the impression of movement and depth even on still spring days. Held on strong, upright stems, each flower presents itself with quiet confidence, bringing both structure and softness to the border.
Effortlessly versatile, Tulip 'Summer Sun' pairs beautifully with muted pastels or richer shades, its coral warmth acting as a natural bridge between colours. Plant Tulip 'Summer Sun' in drifts for a glowing, cohesive display, or weave it through mixed planting where it will gently lift surrounding hues. Indoors, Tulip 'Summer Sun' makes an exceptional cut flower, its tones adding a subtle radiance to any arrangement. With its nuanced colouring and elegant form, Tulipa 'Summer Sun' offers a fresh take on classic spring planting, full of warmth yet never overwhelming.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
