Tulip 'Silver Cloud'

Take a toned-down approach with chic and cool-hued Tulip 'Silver Cloud'. This tulip is a simple shape and airs uncomplicated sophistication, yet sets itself apart from other tulips with subtle and unusual features which make the overall effect of the display so beautiful and interesting. The dark purple stem is the first notable feature of Tulip 'Silver Cloud', this complements the colour of the flower, adding contrast as well as a linear accent to the display. Secondly, the gently pointed petals reveal themselves in a very pale lavender hue. This purple tone fades as the flowers mature, changing the flower colour to a cool silvery-white.  

You can use a variety like Tulip 'Silver Cloud' to create a dramatic display of light and dark by pairing with dark-flowered tulips like 'Queen of Night' or 'Alison Bradley'. If you have a softer style in your garden, team it with pale pastel-coloured or white varieties such as 'Mariage', 'Katinka' or 'Snow Crystal'. Another great planting partner for this tulip is Muscari 'Grape Ice', adding complementary colour and contrasting flower shape. Growing to around 30-40cm, Tulip 'Silver Cloud' isn’t too tall and remains sturdy with a formal upright habit in sheltered gardens.
