Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.
'Salmon Impression'
Tulip 'Salmon Impression' is one of those mid-spring tulips that seems to bring its own soft lighting. Standing to around 55cm, it carries large, beautifully formed pink flowers above broadly lance-shaped green leaves, creating a look that is generous without being showy. Each bloom has a warm salmon-pink glow, edged with paler pink margins that soften the whole effect, rather like a watercolour left to settle in the sun. Tulip 'Salmon Impression' has a naturally graceful presence in the border, adding height, colour and a sense of calm confidence just when spring is beginning to feel properly underway.
Plant Tulip 'Salmon Impression' in drifts for a polished, romantic display, or use it in pots where its large blooms can be admired at close quarters. Its gentle colouring pairs beautifully with ivory, lavender, deep plum and fresh green, and it is particularly effective among emerging perennials that will discreetly take over as the foliage fades. Tulip 'Salmon Impression' also makes a lovely cut flower, bringing that luminous pink warmth indoors with very little persuasion required. For gardeners who enjoy tulips with classic shape, reliable impact and a refined palette, Tulip 'Salmon Impression' is a wonderfully elegant choice.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
