The brightest candy pink against a background of bright green – it’s hard to imagine a more striking combination in the spring garden. This is what Tulip 'St Petersburg', one of the Triumph Tulips, will provide for you. Petals of the brightest most intense pink imaginable open out of a pale cream to white centre and soften and lighten towards the edges. There’s nothing soft and girlish about this pink – it’s a strong statement in Tulip colour that would be stunning paired with Tulip White Dream for a different spring look. It would also make a bright note on your patio in a white container.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
