Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.
'Russian Princess'
Tulip 'Russian Princess' carries herself with a quiet grandeur, each bloom poised like a perfectly tailored gown in shades of deep rose pink and soft cream. The classic, cup-shaped flowers of Tulip 'Russian Princess' open gradually, revealing richly coloured centres that feather elegantly into pale, almost porcelain-white edges. This gentle contrast gives the blooms a luminous quality, particularly in shifting spring light, where Tulip 'Russian Princess' seems to glow from within. Flowering from mid to late spring, it brings a refined sense of structure and harmony to borders, blending beautifully with both pastel companions and deeper tones.
As a Darwin Hybrid, Tulip 'Russian Princess' is not only admired for its beauty but also for its impressive reliability and presence, reaching up to 55cm in height on strong, upright stems. The mid-green, lance-shaped foliage provides a fresh and balanced backdrop, allowing each bloom of Tulip 'Russian Princess' to stand out with clarity. Ideal for borders, generous drifts or cutting gardens, it performs with admirable consistency year after year. Indoors, a vase of Tulip 'Russian Princess' brings a composed elegance to any setting, each stem offering a study in contrast and grace.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
