Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.
'Mayfair'
Tulip 'Mayfair' steps into the spring garden with all the polish and poise of its namesake, bringing a dash of high-end flair to the border. This new and Farmer Gracy exclusive tulip is a double-flowered delight, with plush yellow petals edged in a bold stroke of red—like a golden gown with just the right touch of drama. The blooms are large, full, and beautifully structured, making Tulip 'Mayfair' a real showpiece for mid to late spring. Whether you’re planting a formal display or livening up a few patio pots, this double tulip brings warmth, energy, and a quietly confident charm.
Tulip 'Mayfair' looks especially effective when planted in groups, where its warm yellow tones and contrasting red edges can play off each other beautifully. Try pairing it with tulips in cream or deep burgundy for a balanced, painterly effect. For those who like their spring flowers with a bit of richness and detail, Tulip 'Mayfair' brings a stylish twist to the season.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
