Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.

Tulip
'Queensland'
Take tulips with fringed petals to the next level with Tulip 'Queensland'. Some say the flowers are red, others say they’re pink, but we’ll settle for saying the shade is deepest raspberry with a fluffy white fringe. As a crispa tulip, it has fringed petals. As a double, it has more petals and rounded buds that open into many-petalled blooms. In your garden, it’s a winner. These showy ladies brighten up beds, primp up pots, and vamp up vases. Don’t let your 'Queensland' tulips be lonely, plant them in generous groups so that they can nod their heads at each other, agreeing that yes, they are… absolutely beautiful.
In the back of the 3rd image you can see Muscari 'White Magic' which creates a beautiful carpet and ground cover. A lovely flowering combination with Tulip 'Queensland'.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
