Plant tulip bulbs from October to mid-December, once the weather has cooled. Until then, store them somewhere cool, dry and safely away from mice and squirrels.
Tulip 'Prinses Irene' has it all—a beautiful colour combination and a sweet scent to match. Deep burgundy flames burst from the centre of the bloom, sending wispy brushstrokes into the bright melon orange petals of its fragrant bowl-shaped flowers to provide you with a show-stopping display and delightful aroma. Tulip 'Prinses Irene' (syn. Tulip 'Princess Irene') will feel at home on sunny banks and slopes in your garden, or be equally happy planted as edging or borders. All she needs is well-drained soil and her place in the sun.
Tulip 'Prinses Irene's short and sturdy stems mean she would be ideal to grace your patio or deck in containers or your living area in a floral arrangement, providing a lovely fragrance to both.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
