Emerging from petal-packed buds, a flower this size unfurls over a prolonged period and looks great at every stage. Firstly, showing green-streaked pale pink outer petals which are pointed and slender, followed by an eruption of white upright petals which overflow from the centre. Tulip 'Mystery Valley' is a spring show which goes on and on and it’s simply fascinating to watch.
Fosteriana Tulip 'Mystery Valley' grows up to 45cm tall—the stems are stocky and strong to support the weight of these impressive blooms. Plant them in groups in pots or borders and you’ll be all set for a spring panoply of extraordinary flower power! Tulip 'Mystery Valley' has plenty going on all on its own, but it works will in combinations too. Flowering from late April, try growing this with contrasting late varieties like Tulip 'Black Hero' or similarly wacky Tulip 'Super Parrot'.

Choose full sun or partial shade. Improve heavy soil with organic matter and horticultural grit. For containers, use peat-free multipurpose compost with good drainage.
Plant bulbs pointed side upwards, 15–20cm deep and around 10cm apart. You can leave a little more space between them in borders.
Water once after planting to settle the soil. Border-grown tulips rarely need further watering, but containers should be kept lightly moist and never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, then allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This helps the bulbs store energy for the following year.
